Westlake Police Blotter: Chase Ends With Car Stuck Between Trees

On 6/23/18, a complainant reported that her vehicle had been damaged while parked in the lot of the Super 8 Motel on Sperry.  The front passenger window was smashed out and both passenger side tires were flat.  The only thing taken from inside was a small amount of change.  There are no suspects at this time.

On 6/24/18 at 2:34AM, an employee of Bar Louie at Crocker Park reported that her purse had been stolen.  A credit card as well as cash and other misc items had been inside the purse.  There were no reports of the card being used fraudulently.  A list of possible suspects is being compiled for investigators.

On 6/24/18 at 9:01P a vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation as well as observed suspicious activity in a parking lot of Crocker Park/The Promenade.  It appeared that the occupants had participated in a drug deal in the lot.  A Westlake PD K9 unit was called to the scene.  The drug detection dog alerted to the vehicle.  More than 100 grams of marijuana was located as well as a scale and other paraphernalia.  An 18yo from Westlake was arrested and charged with Trafficking in drugs.  Another 18yo from Westlake was charged with obstruction as well as possession of marijuana.    

On Sunday 6/24/18 at approx. 4 o’clock in the morning, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations in the area of Crocker and Detroit.  The operator made the unwise choice of not obeying the lights and siren.  The Hyundai Elantra fled E/B and then S/B on Settlers Reserve, a residential area.  The driver did not stop until she wedged her vehicle between 2 trees behind a house.  The 16yo from Westlake gave up after she disabled her car.  She was charged with OVI, Driving Under Suspension, Possession of Marijuana and fleeing.  Juvenile court also indicated that she had 2 outstanding warrants for her arrest.

On 6/25/18 at 4:16Pm, WPD received a report of suspected shoplifters at Dick’s Sporting Goods at Crocker Park.  Officers spoke with the employees and soon located the 2 described suspects.  The female, a 26yo from Wakeman, had merchandise stuffed in her pants.  The male accomplice, a 29yo from Wakeman, had wire cutters which had been used to cut tags from stolen merchandise.  The store signed complaints against the 2 alleged thieves for theft and possession of criminal tools.  Officers also found hypodermic needles, burnt spoons, and suspected heroin residue in the suspect’s vehicle along with numerous tools suspected of being used in other shoplifting incidents.  Both were arrested and transported to WPD jail.

On 6/27/18 at approx. 8:52PM, an officer was patrolling Main St in Crocker Park when he heard an occupant of a passing vehicle yell an obscenity through the open window.  Upon speaking with the occupants of the car, who were apologetic for the outburst, a plastic baggie of pills was observed in plain view.  One of the males admitted that he did not have a prescription for some of the controlled substance pills.  The 21 yo from Westlake was arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.  He also was told to bring up his prescription for the narcotics or additional charges would be sought.    

On 6/29/18 at 1110AM, an officer stopped a vehicle on I90 W/B at the Lorain County Line.  The operator was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun reported as stolen in Cleveland along with a large amount of marijuana.  The 34yo from Cleveland was arrested for felony receiving stolen property and improper transport of a firearm as well as drug trafficking.
