Solon Police Blotter: Mom Pours Gatorade All Over Dad's Truck

Drug Possession, Harper Road:  June 14th 11:16 a.m.  An officer observed a vehicle with a large crack in the windshield obscuring the driver’s view eastbound on US 422 and, upon checking the plate, found the owner to be under suspension.  The car was stopped on Harper Road in front of Nestle and the driver was confirmed to have a suspended driver’s license.  Open containers of alcohol were observed on the floor of the vehicle and a folding knife beside the leg of the driver.  Additionally, officers found 5 syringes, 48 small zipper bags with devil face on them, a digital scale with white powder residue, a small spoon, and three empty plastic vials.  As the driver was removed from the floor he took a small baggie from his waistband and tore it, empty most of the contents onto the floor of the car and placing the plastic bag into his mouth.  The contents of the bag tested positive for heroin.  The driver Larry Bartlett, 36 of Garfield Heights, was arrested and charged with Tampering with Evidence, Drug Possession, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving under Suspension, Unsafe Vehicle, No Seatbelt, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.  His passenger Heather Keil, 32 of Northfield, was charged with Possessing Drug Abuse Instruments, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, No Seatbelt, and also held for several outstanding warrants. 

OVI, Solon Road:  June 14th 10:50 p.m.  Randy Pelham, 54 of Garfield Heights, was seen travelling on the closed portion of Solon Road and stopped.  The officer noticed that there was an odor of alcohol and administered field sobriety tests.  Seeing indications of impairment the officer arrested Pelham and took him to jail where he refused a breath test.  He is charged with OVI and Traffic Control Devices.

Domestic Violence, Enterprise Parkway:  June 17th 12:49 a.m.  Officer responded to the Solon Cinema 16, 6185 Enterprise Parkway, for a reported domestic in a vehicle in front of the theater.  The 45 year old victim from Bedford Heights had come there to pick up his 13 year old son when his son’s mother, a 43 year old from Bedford Heights from Bedford Heights whom he is not married to nor living with, jumped into his truck and refused to get out.  He pulled away from the theatre and pulled to the side of the roadway and asked her to get out, at which time she grabbed a Gatorade that was in the back of the truck and started pouring it around the inside of the truck.  When the victim attempted to retrieve all of the Gatorade from her reach, she began kicking, scratching, and punching him, causing visible trauma.  The female was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence; a report was also filed with Cuyahoga County Children Services.

OVI, US 422:  June 19th 11:53 a.m.  Joshua Jones, 41of Mooresville, was arrested after an officer observed him on the exit ramp to SR 91 in a vehicle with an expired plate.  He additionally watched the vehicle turn onto SR 91 making a wide turn before recovering back to the curb lane.  The officer initiated a traffic stop and detected a strong odor of alcohol upon approaching Jones; field sobriety tests indicated impairment and he was arrested and taken to jail where he refused to submit to a breath test.  Jones was charged with OVI, Improper Left Turn, Expired Plates, No Seat Belt, and Open Container.

Burglary, SR 91:  June 12th 5:20 p.m.  Officers responded to a reported burglary in the 7100 block of S.O.M. Center Road where the 25 year old residents said that they had returned home at about 4:45 p.m. when they found that a rear window had been broken out and items rummaged through.  The residents could find nothing missing; the detective bureau is investigating.

OVI, Kruse Drive:  June 21st 12:18 a.m.  Zachary Horstman, 29 of Oakwood, was seen travelling on US 422 and crossing over the fog until exiting on SR 91, where the he made a wide turn into the other lane.  A traffic stop was initiated on Kruse Drive where the officer noticed that Horstman’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot and he was extremely nervous.  The officer detected an odor of alcohol and requested he perform field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.  He was arrested for OVI and refused a breath test.  He is charged with OVI and Marked Lanes.
