Officers Injured, Suspect Shot Twice In East Cleveland

EAST CLEVELAND - Two officers and a suspect were injured in an East Cleveland altercation Sunday afternoon.

According to police, a man was reported firing shots on Van Buren Road, just blocks away from the police station. Believing they were responding to a domestic violence call, officers ran to the scene and encountered the suspect who, they say began fighting and "acted as if he was going to draw a gun."

That's when officers fired striking the suspect, twice. His condition, is unknown at this time.

An unidentified female victim, allegedly choked by the suspect, remains in critical condition.

Both officers were injured as well. One suffering a broken orbital bone that required stitches above his right eye.
