(Akron) -- Akron is losing its leading sports event to Tennessee. The "Beacon Journal" cites published reports in the Memphis Commercial Appeal that say the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational is moving to Memphis next year.
PGA Tour officials are expected to make the official announcement Thursday, after they visit Firestone Country Club to announce the future of professional golf in Akron.
Reports have said Firestone will, starting in 2019, be the new home of a Senior PGA tournament.
