Progressive Field Ready And Primed For Home Opener

(Cleveland) - Final preparations are being made on the playing surface at Progressive Field in advance of Friday's home opener between the Cleveland Indians and Kansas City Royals.

A very cold month of March posed a variety of challenges for Indians Head Groundskeeper Brandon Koehnke and his crew in getting the field ready or action.

There were very few days over forty degrees which hampered the grounds crew in its' efforts to get the field ready for the home opener.

Koehnke says there were just a handful of decent weather days in March to get the playing surface ready for action which made it extremely difficult to prepare the field.

Koehnke is confident there will be no precipitation for the opener although he says it will be chilly which, conditions which they are used to.

Overall, Koehnke says he is pleased with how the field turned out.  First pitch for the opener is set for 4:10PM on WTAM 1100.
