Ambulance Overturns in Vermilion, Patient Dies

VERMILION - A patient being transported is dead, and the nurse tending them has been life-flighted, after an ambulance drove into a ravine in Vermillion.

Authorities say it happened around 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon on Liberty Avenue near Helen Drive. 

Officials believe the EMS driver may have suffered a medical condition, when witnesses behind the ambulance say it began driving erratically, before driving off the right side of the road and overturning in the ravine.

According to police, the driver was taken to a local hospital, the nurse is currently in a Toledo hospital with serious injuries.
