Defense attorneys, today, will begin the process of trying to save Christopher Whitaker's life. He faces the death penalty after being convicted of the brutal January, 2017 murder of 14-year old Aliana Defreeze. She was last seen getting off an RTA bus at East 93 and Kinsman. Her body was discovered three days later in a vacant house on Fuller avenue. Whitaker was convicted last week of several charges including aggravated murder, rape and kidnapping. He faces a possible death sentence. The sentencing phase gets underway today at the Justice Center.
