A Push To Tax Plastic Grocery Bags

WTAM News

(Lakewood) - Lakewood City Council members are proposing a resolution to urge the county to impose a five-cent tax on disposable plastic bags.

Council members say it would help cut down on the amount of plastic ending up in northern Ohio's waterways.

Supporters say more than five million pounds of plastic pollution contaminates Lake Erie each year.  The county has proposed placing a ten cent tax on such bags.
