(Cooperstown, New York) – If you want to make the trip to Cooperstown, New York to see Jim Thome’s induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, the staff there would love to have you make the drive.

Craig Muder, the Hall of Fame’s Director of Communications, says the event on July 29 is free and open to the public.  The stage on which Thome and the other five new Hall of Fame members will sit is at the bottom of a natural amphitheater in the middle of Cooperstown, with plenty of lawn seating.

The Indians say they’re discussing the possibility of offering for sale to fans a travel package, but nothing’s definite on that.

Thome’s plaque will be designed by Hall of Fame staff, and he’ll see it for the first time at the ceremony.  Chances are good that on the plaque, Thome will be wearing an Indians cap with Chief Wahoo on it.  Muder says the player has some say in how they’re portrayed on the plaque, but in the end, Hall staff has the final say.  According to Muder, being that they are a museum, they try to be as accurate as possible.
