ID Determined For Child's Remains Found On Longmead Ave.

Eliazar Ruiz

(Cleveland) – The child whose remains were found in the backyard of a home on Longmead Avenue now has a name.  Cleveland Police and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner say they are the remains of four-year-old Eliazar Ruiz.

The crack in the case came when a sketch of what the deeassed child may have looked like was given to news media.  Two weeks ago, a tipster came forward after seeing the sketch.  Through interviews, and the use of DNA comparisons, the boy’s body was identified.

Eliazar’s remains were found in a plastic bag in the backyard of a vacant house on Longmead.  Only bones were found in the bag.

It hasn’t been determined how the boy died, or who left behind the bag with his remains inside.
