(Warren, OH) -- A Trumbull County woman is behind bars, ten years after she was accused of killing her husband. Prosecutors say Claudia Hoerig was booked into jail Wednesday evening after being extradited from her native Brazil.
She's accused of gunning down Karl Hoerig in their Newton Falls home in 2007, cleaning out the couple's bank accounts and fleeing the country. U.S. officials spent the past decade pressuring the Brazilian government to turn Hoerig over for prosecution.
The Brazilian National Supreme Court ruled in 2017 that Claudia Hoerig could be extradited to the U.S.
Claudia Hoerig will be in court in Trumbull County on Friday.
