(Cuyahoga County) - Around 9am today, the North Coast Credit Union on Lorain Road in Fairview Park, followed by the Best Rewards Credit Union on Smith Road in Brook Park, were both robbed.
FBI agent Vicki Anderson says two unknown males entered each location, covered in hoodies, one individual was armed, and that both were aggressive and threatening to bank employees while pointing the weapon at employees demanding money.
Anderson says bank employees at each location complied with the demands, and the suspects fled in what is now known to be a white Chrysler 200.
Law enforcement responded to each bank robbery and began conducting a logical investigation, but Anderson tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, an investigator in the field observed the possible suspect vehicle and a loose surveillance ensued.
Additional law enforcement resources were called into assist (CPD helicopter, marked units, etc). The suspect vehicle proceeded to increase in speed.
The suspect vehicle ultimately wrecked by hitting a moving vehicle and a parked vehicle at East 156th and Damon.
Four individuals had been in the vehicle. Two suspects were transported to receive medical attention and two suspects were questioned by law enforcement.
Anderson reports the white Chrysler 200 used in the two bank robberies today was stolen in an aggravated robbery carjacking yesterday in Cleveland Heights.
