After the Browns traded for Brock Osweiler, the team went out of their way to let everyone know that they were not planning on keeping him.
Osweiler was not included in any of the introductory press conferences provided by the other off-season acquisitions. National television networks reported soon after the trade with the Houston Texans that the trade was all about the Browns acquiring a second-round draft pick in 2018 from Houston, if they would take on Osweiler's bloated $16 million salary and that the Browns planned to trade Osweiler. If no trade partner was found, they would release him.
