(Cleveland)-A massive thunderstorm or even just one downed power line can leave you in the dark for hours. So, just how long does it take until the food in your fridge or freezer goes bad? Cleveland Clinic Registered Dietician Lindsay Malone says less than four hours for your refrigerator and for the freezer it's more like 24- hours. She says the most important thing to do during an outage is keep the fridge closed as much as possible. And, if you know it's going to be more that four hours transfer some of the food from the fridge into the freezer. She says when it doubt, throw it out.
