(AKRON) - A 19 year old man will spend 15 years in prison for raping an elderly woman. Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh said today that Billy Patterson of Windsor Street in Akron pleaded guilty to breaking into the 71-year old's home and raping her.
In addition to serving prison time, Patterson will have to register as a sex offender with the local sheriff every 90 days for the rest of his life. “This was a heinous, brutal act that has severely traumatized the victim and is deserving of a lengthy prison sentence,” said Prosecutor Walsh.
Police said Patterson broke into the elderly woman’s home on September 24th of 2016, hit her in the face multiple times and choked her nearly unconscious. Patterson and the victim had known each other for nearly ten years.
