(Cleveland) - Burke Lakefront Airport is getting a new coat of indoor paint...and more.

Burke is undergoing exterior renovations including repainting the terminal building, removal of the canopy covering the front terminal walkway, new landscaping, window tinting and new LED lighting on the exterior facade and walkway.

Airport Director Ricky Smith says, "Burke Lakefront Airport is a vital piece of Cleveland's lakefront and these improvements will make it more enjoyable for the people who depend on teh facility."

The Burke exterior was repainted in 2013. Crews started removing the canopy Monday. That will take about a week.

A new walkway, landscaping and lighting will follow and will take about two weeks from their start date.

Window tinting will depend on weather.

New fencing and a security gate will be upgraded to enhance the look of the terminal building and provide additional security for tenants and users of the airport.
