(Cuyahoga County) - A man was shot Tuesday afternoon in the Home Depot Store parking lot in North Olmsted.

The victim is a 34 year old a painting contractor who was sitting in his van, when he was confronted by a man with a gun. The assailant shot the contractor, who scrambled out of the rear of the van, and ran into Home Depot.

The 34 year old assailant got into his car and sped away, but a witness was able to get the license plate number.

Police went to his home and made an arrest. The victim was transported to Fairview General Hospital. He is expected to recover.

Long after the shooting, the North Olmsted Police investigation team continued to collect and process evidence. The store was reopened for business. So far, investigators have not released a motive for the crime.

Home Depot patrons expressed surprise that a shooting would occur in their quiet suburb during broad daylight. Most explained that they never feared for their safety when shopping in North Olmsted, but may be a little more watchful now.
