The Reds outslugged the Guardians 11-7 in their series opener from Progressive Field. Elly De La Cruz blasted a pair of home runs and had four RBI while TJ Friedl homered in his fourth straight game. Luke Maile and Christian Encarnacion-Strand also went deep for Cincinnati, which improved to 81-and-77. The Reds trail the Cubs by one-and-a-half games for the last Wild Card spot in the NL. Bo Naylor slugged a three-run homer for Cleveland, which dropped to 74-and-84. The Guardians are now third in the AL Central.
