Despite rising COVID-19 cases across the United States, a reported average of 400,000 per day, Dr. Fauci believes that it is correct to have students return to in-person learning after winter break.

From a vaccination standpoint, Dr. Fauci attributes his position to the fact that children ages five and older are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine, and he refers to as an “overwhelming majority of [teachers]” vaccinated. From a social standpoint, Dr. Fauci adds that there needs to be a balance with safety are “deleterious effects” of children not being physically in schools.

He also continues to encourage parents to get their children vaccinated, wearing masks in school, and getting tested.
