Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will not be charged after an investigation into two harassment allegations concluded. Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah released a statement on Twitter with an explanation. In part, even though her office considered the allegations “credible,” Rocah acknowledged that it was unable to pursue criminal charges due to “statutory requirements” in New York.

Cuomo resigned as Governor of New York in August after an investigation concluded that he had sexually harassed eleven women, although he has denied the accusations. He was not charged in a separate case involving an allegation at Belmont Racetrack in 2019. In response, Cuomo’s spokesperson, Rich Azzopardi, accused the Attorney General of pursuing that case for “gross prosecutorial misconduct and an abuse of government power for political purposes,” and “igniting the cancel culture mentality.” In another case, Cuomo has been charged with misdemeanor forcible touching in Albany County, and is scheduled to appear in court on January 7th, 2022.
