NASA's SpaceX is sending Christmas Gifts to the International Space Station and will reach a milestone in the process. The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket was launched yesterday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Canaveral, Florida at 5:07 AM Eastern Time. It is expected to reach the Space Station today with 6,500 pounds of supplies, including gifts from astronauts’ families, holiday foods, scientific equipment, and other essentials.
Officials were reportedly unsure if they could launch the rocket due to thick clouds, and forecasters estimated 30% “go” conditions the day before. This was SpaceX’s record, 31st, and likely final rocket launch of 2021. It occurred exactly six years after SpaceX launched its first rocket into space.
