Israel has banned travel to the United States among 50 countries due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 omicron variant.

This decision to add the US to its "no fly" list appeared to be prompted after roughly ten percent of passengers on a flight from Miami to Israel tested positive for the omicron variant. The Israeli cabinet reportedly voted for this travel ban, and the official decision is expected to be approved by the parliamentary committee

Beginning today at 2200 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), citizens of Israel will not be allowed to travel to the US or any of the 50 countries, barring permission from a special committee.

Additionally, residents returning to Israel from one of the 50 countries would have to isolate, but travelers without an Israeli passport would not be able to enter.
