Former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach, Urban Meyer, was fired overnight just 13 games into a five-year contract. Amid a 2-11 start, Meyer has been criticized for actions both and off the field, as outlined here. However, the latest accusation may have been the final straw, in which former jaguars kicker Josh Lambo, accused Meyer of kicking him during an August practice.
Jaguars Owner, Shad Khan, released this statement, explaining his decision to fire Meyer, who is the first NFL coach to not finish his first season since Bobby Petrino in 2007. This was Meyer's first job in the NFL as he was previously a head coach in college at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, and Ohio State, winning three national championships (two at Florida, one at Ohio State).
Offensive Coordinator, Darrell Bevell, will serve as the Jaguars' interim head coach.
