Disc Golf, one of the fastest rising sports in popularity world wide, held it's World Championships over the weekend. Five time World Champion and one of the greatest disc golfers of all time Paul McBeth had led the card for the entirety of the final round, chased closely by fellow pro James Conrad.
Going into the final hole 18 of the tournament, Conrad trailed McBeth by 1 stroke. They matched each other shot for shot on the par 4 setting up a 247 foot shot that Conrad needed to throw in to force a playoff for the 2021 World Championship crown.
Conrad, searching for his first World Championship, lit the crowd and the disc golf world on fire when he did just that. A throw in from 247 feet to force a sudden death playoff to end the 5 round event with a tie at the top of the leader board.
Conrad and McBeth started the playoff on hole 16 where Conrad had aced (or shot a hole in one if you aren't familiar with Disc Golf terminology) earlier in the tournament. Conrad cemented his place in Disc Golf history when he birdied the playoff hole after McBeth threw his tee shot out of bounds.
