"Built to Win it All"
The beauty of sports is and always will be,
once the ball is put in play, there is no
written script for what will happen next.
The Indians came within perhaps a brief rain delay
of winning their first World Series since 1948.
They nearly did it without two of their
top starting pitchers(Carrasco,Salazar) and
perhaps their best hitter(Brantley). Of course
on the other side of it,they received unexpected
monster years from Mike Napoli and Rajah Davis.
As amazing as their post season was,
the off season, which included the stunning
signing of free agent slugger Edwin Encarnacion
An under the radar move was the signing of
lefty reliever Boone Logan. Another lefty at
a pretty high price($5million)when the team
already has Andrew Miller. It's almost overkill,
but it's a perfect example of how the front
office is trying to prepare this team to deal
issues in the upcoming season.(ie:a fatigue
factor for the bullpen from last year.)
In baseball one can always count on some form
of adversity to occur over the long season,
but this Indians roster appears to have taken
all of this into account. The Indians don't
need career years from their players to
contend for a championship.(Although a career
