CHICAGO, IL -- The Cleveland Indians were matched up against Chicago ace Lucas Giolito, who had impressive numbers in past outings against the Indians ball club. Cesar Hernandez ripped a game-tying RBI double to right center field in the third inning, marking the first earned run that Giolito has given up to the tribe in over two years. Chicago bats warmed up in the 6th inning, as they tacked on an additional two runs on a McCann solo shot and a Yasmani Grandal RBI base knock. The tribe tied the game in the 8th inning, later forcing extra innings where the visiting Cleveland Indians would edge past the White Sox by the final score of 5-4.

Cleveland played small ball to perfection in the away half of the 10th inning, with Delino Deshields laying down a perfect safety-squeeze down the first base line, scoring a sprinting Jose Ramirez. Mike Freeman roped his second hit of the night on an RBI single, providing the Indians with an all important insurance run. Brad Hand looked to shut things down in the bottom of the 10th, before the rain picked up by the second, eventually delaying the game. About 45 minutes after the delay, the two teams picked up where they left off, but chose to go with Oliver Perez instead of Hand. Perez made quick work, forcing two quick outs to earn just his 5th save of his career. Tribe right hander Phil Maton maintained his 0.00 ERA on his way to earning his first win of the year.

The Cleveland Indians took two out of three in a weekend series on the Southside of Chicago, and will get a much needed day off on Monday. Cleveland will host the visiting Chicago Cubs on Tuesday evening to kick off a quick two-game series. First pitch on Tuesday is set for 7:10 pm ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
