Indians Fall to Nationals 8-2 in Season Finale

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Washington Nationals continue to dominate heading into the playoffs, sweeping the tribe to end the 2019 regular season. Washington ends their season on a year-high 8-game winning streak after defeating the visiting Cleveland Indians by the score of 8-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Trube starter Mike Clevinger (13-4) was charged with 6 earned runs over 5 2/3 innings in his final start of the season, falling one win shy of his career high.

Washington catcher Kurt Suzuki, who missed most of the month with an elbow injury, hit his 17th homer of the season on a 2-run shot off of Mike Clevinger in the third inning. "Baby Shark" Gerardo Parra finished off his big weekend with 2 RbI's and a run scored. The Washington Nationals finish the regular season at 93-69, an 11-win improvement from the 2018 season.

Washington will face off against the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Wildcard Game. The Cleveland Indians finish the 2019 season with a record of 93-69 as their season comes to an end.
