Indians Fall Short in New York, Two Games Back of Twins

The Indians looked to continue the hit fest the team experienced last night. But the Indians would quickly remember how good Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka can be.

The first score of the night would go to the Yankees when catcher Gary Sanchez would have the RBI single that scored Aaron Judge making the score 1-0 in the top of the 1st inning. The Yankees were not done as the next batter up would also have an RBI single this time from second Baseman Gleyber Torres and that single would score Gregorius making the score 2-0 going into the bottom of the first inning.

The next inning it was the Indians turn to score, When in the top of the second, the red hot Jose Ramirez hit his 20th home run of the season, making the score 2-1. In favor of the Yankees.

The bottom of the second, The Yankees had a runner in scoring position. When a routine fly ball with one out, allowed right fielder Yasiel Puig showed why he has one of the best arms in the MLB. Keeping the score 2-1 in the bottom of the second.

All was quiet until the bottom of the fifth when Yankees DH Gio Urshela would single to right allowing Aaron Judge to score on an error by Puig. Making the score 3-1 in favor of the Yankees.

The Indians would answer back in the top of the seventh inning when Yasiel Puig would have his second home run in an Indians uniform and his 24th of the season with a 358 foot shot to right field making the score 3-2 in favor of the Yankees.

In the bottom of the seventh the Indians would bring in Adam Cimbers relieving Aaron Civale who in six innings pitched, gave up eight hits, two earned runs, and had four strike outs.

Cimber would last only three batters, as Cimber left, in came Oliver Perez. Perez would need only three pitches as he was able to get the first out of the inning. The Indians would the bring in Tyler Clippard. Clippard with the assist of Piug arm, would keep the bases loaded and get the next two batters out. Keeping the score 3-2.

To leadoff for the Indians in the was Tyler Naquin, thanks to a dropped ball by Yankees first baseman Mike Ford, The Indians were given a chance to tie the game with Tyler Naquin was able to advance to second. But that is where he would stay as the inning ended leaving the score 3-2 in favor of the Yankees.

In the bottom of the eighth the Indians faced three batters and sat them all down, as Tyler Clippard was able to get the outs the team needed to keep it a one run game has the Indians trailed 3-2 going into the 9th.

In the 9th Inning the Yankees brought in their Closer Aroldis Chapman to face the three, four and five hitters. Chapman would walk Santana who would represent the tying run. Puig would pop out to the first baseman, and Ramirez would strike out. Bringing Jason Kipnis to the plate, Jason Kipnis would fall victim to a strike out. As the Indians fell 3-2 to the Yankees.
