Carrasco Leaves Game Early as Marlins Cruise Past Tribe 3-1

CLEVELAND, OH -- Indians starter Carlos Carrasco was slicing through the Marlins lineup through the first 3 innings, until injuring his knee in the top of the 4th inning. Carrasco ran to cover first base while Santana was attempting to throw out Neil Walker, which led to Carlos Carrasco losing his footing, then was ran over by Neil Walker. Carrasco came up limping, but continued to finish the inning. As Neil Ramirez came out from the bullpen to start the 5th inning, the Cleveland Indians stated that Carrasco had left the game with 'left knee discomfort.' Carrasco will receive a precautionary MRI this week.

Marlins catcher Jorge Alfaro jumped on tribe reliever Neil Ramirez instantaneously, blasting a solo home run to right field to put the Marlins on top in the 5th inning. The Marlins stayed hot in the 5th inning, as Curtis Granderson brought home a run on an RBI double, followed by a sac-fly off of the bat of Martin Prado. the Miami Marlins were able to ride this deficit to the very end, defeating the tribe 3-1.

The entire Indians lineup was shut down by the Marlins youngster Pablo Lopez, who completely outpowered the tribe. The Indians were only able muster three total hits, two of which came off of Lopez. Cleveland's only run came on a Tyler Naquin RBI single, scoring Carlos Gonzalez. Pablo Lopez secured his first win of the young season, posting an impressive line of 6.1 innings, 2 hits, 0 earned runs.

The Indians will look to bounce back with a victory in the finale of the two-game interleague series. The Cleveland Indians will give the nod to Jefry Rodriguez, as he will be matched up versus Marlins right hander Sandy Alcantara. First pitch is set for 1:10 PM ET at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
