CLEVELAND, OH -- Tribe manager Tito Francona pulled Trevor Bauer after seven hitless innings and 117 pitches. While watching from the dugout and hoping for a combined no-hitter, Freddy Galvin broke up the no-hit bid with a leadoff single in the 9th inning of the Indians' 4-1 win on Thursday evening.

On the 25th anniversary of Progressive Field's opening, Trevor Bauer was attempting to throw the franchise's first no-hitter since Len Barker's perfect game in 1981, which was also against the Blue Jays. Bauer was pulled after the 7th inning due to his growing pitch count.

Indians' reliever Jon Edwards got two outs in the eighth inning before closer Brad Hand took over to finish the game. During the ninth inning, Hand found himself in a bases-loaded jam, but was able to work out of it. Despite giving up two hits, Hand held in for his 3rd save of the young season.

Tyler Naquin shook off his early season struggles as he went 2-4, scoring once. Despite not getting a hit, Jose Ramirez drove in one run on 3 at-bats. Brad Miller, Greg Allen, and Roberto Perez each chipped in one RBI. Blue Jays' outfielder Teoscar Hernandez pinch-hit in the ninth inning and drove in Toronto's only run on a double to deep left field.

The Indians will face off versus the Toronto Blue Jays for the second game of the four game series on Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:10 PM ET at Progressive Field.
