Despite a solid outing from Corey Kluber, who retired the first 14 batters he faced and took a no hitter into the 6th inning, the Indians could not string together any offense and only muster 2 hits on the afternoon, as they fall to the Minnesota Twins 2-0.

Kluber put together a solid outing pitching 7 innings, only allowing 4 hits and 2 runs and striking out 5, but Twins starter Jose Berrios was better. Berrios set a Twins Opening Day record by striking out 10 Indians, allowing 2 hits and walking 1 in his 7 2/3 innings of work.

The scoring started in the 7th when Marwin Gonzalez, who the Twins signed in free agency in the offseason, hit a 2 run double to score two other offseason acquisitions, Nelson Cruz and C.J. Cron, after the both singled to start the inning.

Other news of note for the Indians, this was Kluber's fifth straight opening day start, the first in club history to do that since Stan Coveleski achieved that in 1921. Starting shortstop Eric Stamets made his major league debut in this game, but did not record his first hit, as he went 0 for 2 striking out both times.

The team did provide an update on Francisco Lindor's ankle injury, as they said he will be seeking a second opinion from Dr. Robert Anderson, an ankle and foot specialist, who has worked extensively with NFL players.

The next game in the series is Saturday as Trevor Bauer takes the hill for the Indians and he will be opposed by Jake Odorizzi for the Twins. First pitch is at 2:10, our coverage will start at 1 with Tribe Insider on WTAM 1100 and 106.9 FM.
