Indians Defeat the Colorado Rockies 7-1

Cleveland defeated the Colorado Rockies, 7-1, on Saturday afternoon at Goodyear Ballpark. RHP SHANE BIEBER made his third start of the spring, tossing 4.0 shutout innings to earn the win (1H, 4SO). The right-hander is now 1-1 with a 1.00 ERA (1ER/9.0IP) in Cactus League Play.

DH MATT JOYCE (2-for-3, R) got the scoring started for the Tribe, hitting a 2-out single in the bottom of the 3rd. The Indians broke the game open with a 5-run 6th inning courtesy of a 2-run triple by RF TRAYCE THOMPSON (1-for-3), an RBI-single by SS RYAN FLAHERTY (1-for-2, BB) and a 2-out 2-run single from 1B NELSON RODRIGUEZ (1-for-2). SS ERIC STAMETS (1-for-1, R) added an additional run in the 7th with an RBI-triple.

LHP OLIVER PEREZ (1.0IP), RHP TYLER CLIPPARD (0.2IP, 1H), RHP JAMES KARINCHAK (0.1IP), RHP JON EDWARDS (1.0IP, 1H, 1SO), RHP BROOKS POUNDERS (1.0IP, 1H, 1R/ER, BB, 1SO) and RHP A.J. COLE (1.0IP, 1H, 1SO) combined to allow just four additional hits and one run to the Rockies after Bieber departed. Edwards continues his impressive spring, as he has now worked 5.0 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts (3H).

The Indians will hit the road on Sunday afternoon to face the Seattle Mariners at the Peoria Sports Complex (1:10PM MT/4:10PM ET). RHP CARLOS CARRASCO (0-0, ---) will make his first start of the spring against RHP FÉLIX HERNÁNDEZ (0-0, ---) of the Mariners. The game can be heard on WTAM 1100 and the Indians Radio Network.
