Astros hit 4 HRs, dominate Indians 7-2 in ALDS Opener



Houston, TX) -- After winning last year's World Series, The Houston Astros stayed hot in the first game of the ALDS. Alex Bregman got things started with a solo home run in the 4th inning, which was followed by an RBI single by Josh Reddick. The Astros' bats stayed hot in the 5th inning, as Springer and Altuve hit back to back solo home runs to jump out to a 4-0 lead. Martin Maldonado tacked on the Astros' 4th home run of the game in the 7th inning. 

Justin Verlander was dynamite tonight, taking a no-hitter into the 6th inning against an ice cold Indians lineup. Verlander goes 5 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs on only 2 hits. The Astros Bullpen was perfect tonight, giving up 0 earned runs in relief of Justin Verlander.

Corey Kluber got off to a good start in his 2018 ALDS debut, but the powerful Astros lineup caught up to him. Kluber went 4 2/3 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits. Cody Allen's recent struggles continued today, giving up 2 earned runs on 2 hits, only getting one out. Brantley, Lindor, and Gomes each contributed a hit in the Indians' 3 hit effort. 

Game 2 of the ALDS will begin Saturday, October 6th, first pitch set for 4:37. Gerrit Cole will get the nod for the Houston Astros, Carlos Carrasco will start for the tribe.
