Late last month, John Sotelo was stocking cases of water at his work at Costco in Clovis, California, when he spotted an envelope on a pallet. He was shocked when he opened the envelope and found it contained nearly $4,000 in cash. Without hesitation, Sotelo informed his manager of the discovery.
Combing through surveillance footage from the store, Sotelo and the manager were able to identify the Costco member who’d left the envelope in the store and track him down. They then returned the money to the grateful customer, who told them the money was for his children’s schooling.
Sotelo had set a few goals for himself for the month of August: work hard, maintain a positive attitude, and earn the title of Employee of the Month. His integrity and dedication cinched the deal for him and now his name is on the “Employee of the Month” plaque in the store.
