Family Drives 2500 Miles To Adopt Husky With A Lopsided Face

You’ve probably seen posts on socials about shelter animals. Well… they work. Harvey the husky has a unique face and for months he was in the care of the San Diego Department of Animal Services. Joy Ollinger, who’s a lieutenant there, thought that was too long.

She took pictures of Harvey and his lopsided face, which his vet thinks happened when he was bitten as a puppy, and posted the pup’s story on Facebook. It didn’t take long for someone to notice.

Sherry Langston saw Harvey’s face and fell in love. The only hitch? She lived in Seattle! So after talking with Ollinger she said 'You know what, I'm just gonna make the drive down.'" She packed up the family and their dog River to meet Harvey.

What happened when they met? "It was love at first sight!" Ollinger says. Sherry agrees to say that even River loved him. "First meeting I was like, 'OK, he's our dog.'"

Now, Lankston is sharing Harvey’s story to try to inspire others to adopt a rescue animal too, even if they don’t drive 2500 miles to adopt like she did.
