Days after Russia invaded Ukraine, ten-year-old Agnessa Bezhenar and her family were forced to leave their home in Odesa and had to leave their cats and dogs behind.
After resettling in San Francisco, Agnessa was desperate to be reunited with her cat, Arsenii, and her mom, Maria, was connected with a flight attendant, Angelica Chavez-Etchury.
Angelica was also the founder of an animal welfare nonprofit and used her connections to successfully orchestrate a complicated operation to reunite Agnessa with her cat.
