CLEVELAND – Week 3 of the NFL season kicked off with Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns stunning the New York Jets 21-17 on Thursday Night Football at First Energy Stadium. While “Picks With Nick” did not have a selection for that Jets-Browns game, below you will find our full slate of NFL selections against the spread (for entertainment purposes only, of course). Normally we will post our college football picks slate on Thursdays and our NFL picks on Fridays. Good luck!

A quick glance at our numbers on the season against the Vegas spread:

CFB: 8-8-0 (50%)

NFL: 3-3-1 (50%)

Total: 11-11-1 (50%)

Our picks are made against Las Vegas oddsmakers merely helping create football interactions on Facebook and Twitter, as well as online and on-air content for Newsradio WTAM 1100 and WTAM.com.

Similar to the last two seasons, our goal is to win 53% of our picks against the spread. Las Vegas sports books, give us 11/10 odds or -110, so in order to break even in picking games against the spread (ATS) we must win 52.4% of the games we select. Winning 58% of picks ATS would place you among the most elite sports handicappers in the world. We’ll shoot for somewhere between 53% - 58% again this season.

We are again keeping our college and NFL selections separate, but we will update the results from both weekly with full transparency, seeing how we stack up against Las Vegas oddsmakers. We are coming off back-to-back winning seasons in which we hit 54% ATS in college football and the NFL combined in 2016 and 56% in both combined last season in 2017. So far, in college and the NFL combined, we are hitting 50% ATS.

Throughout the season it is important to understand that we will continually update our records in both college football and the NFL, totaling them also, and additionally, that Newsradio WTAM 1100 and I do not condone illegal sports wagering. With Week 3 of the NFL season kicking off already, let’s dive into our full slate of selections against the spread.

Below is our full slate of NFL picks featuring five selections ATS for Week 3:

Game: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Carolina Panthers

Where: Charlotte, North Carolina – Bank of America Stadium

Kickoff: 1:00 pm ET

TV: CBS

Spread: Panthers -3

Nick’s Pick: The Bengals are off to a great start. Opening the season 2-0 seems to have everyone in the NFL surprised. That said, Cincinnati should be spotted more points than three on the road at Carolina. Cam Newton and the banged up Panthers take care of business at home. Nick’s Pick here is Panthers -3.

Game: New York Giants vs. Houston Texans

Where: Houston, Texas – NRG Stadium

Kickoff: 1:00 pm ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Texans -6

Nick’s Pick: How can we continue to ride the 0-2 New York Giants. With so many weapons they’re bound to at least keep this game close. Against the 0-2 Texans, that may not be asking too much here. Nick’s Pick is Giants +6.

Game: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Los Angeles Rams

Where: Los Angeles, California – Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Kickoff: 4:05 pm ET

TV: CBS

Spread: Rams -7

Nick’s Pick: The Rams have been the most impressive team in the NFL through two weeks of football. And yes, they’ll probably win this game. However Phillip Rivers and the Chargers find a way to make this game interesting and ultimately close. Nick’s Pick here is Chargers +7.

Game: Dallas Cowboys vs. Seattle Seahawks

Where: Seattle, Washington – CenturyLink Field

Kickoff: 4:25 pm ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Seahawks -2

Nick’s Pick: Remember: Keep a short memory. The Seahawks looked awful on Monday Night Football in their loss to the Chicago Bears while the Dallas Cowboys throttled the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. Erase all of that from your memory. Seattle is finally playing a home game and Dallas should struggle outside of AT&T Stadium again. Nick’s Pick here is Seahawks -2.

Game: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Where: Tampa, Florida – Raymond James Stadium

Kickoff: 8:15 pm ET

TV: ESPN

Spread: Steelers -1

Nick’s Pick: The Steelers have been a big disappointment so far, while Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Buccaneers have been a fun story in the NFL. Reality should hit both teams on primetime television Monday night. Tampa Bay isn’t this good and Pittsburgh isn’t this bad. Nick’s Pick is Steelers -1.
