Cleveland, OH (April 30th, 2021) – Last evening, The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland held a small reception at The Union Club, in downtown Cleveland, to recognition Josh Cribbs, a champion for The Salvation Army and the greater Cleveland community. Josh has been an active supporter of The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland for over 5 years. Both, he and his wife, Maria, were Ambassadors for 2019 Kick Off of the Red Kettle Campaign in Cleveland. Josh helps during Thanksgiving and Christmas to distribute meals to families who need it the most. In the summer, Josh and his TeamCribbs Foundation, donate school supplies and book bags to children preparing for the upcoming school year in the Miles Park area.
“If I could describe Josh with one word, it would be ‘humility’. He is very humble and wants to give back. He always supports others but stands in the background to avoid notoriety. That is the type of guy, Josh is,” commented Major Brian Glasco, Commanding Corps Officer, The Salvation Army of East Cleveland Corps Community Center.
Josh was honored with the 1st Annual Donald Strang Community Service Award. This award honors an individual who has significantly impacted the lives of Cleveland neighbors by the gift of their time, talent, and treasure. This award was established in remembrance of Donald Strang who served on The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland Advisory Board for 32 years, as well as serving on The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board for 15 years. Donald was an active participant in advancing strategies and programs that helped our neighbors in need.
“There could not be a better person to represent our 1st Annual Donald Strang Community Service Award. Josh is a man of amazing character and integrity for his work both on and off the field. He embodies a similar spirit to that of Don Strang, and always knows how to make any person feel welcome. He is a true treasure to The Salvation Army of Greater Cleveland, and we are happy that we could honor him in a special way,” stated Major Thomas Applin, Divisional Secretary of Greater Cleveland Area Services.
