The Texas Supreme Court temporarily blocked mask mandates in San Antonio and Dallas, siding with Gov. Greg Abbot’s executive order that prevents governmental entities, like school, from requiring masks. But this isn’t the end of the fight
Officials do plan to continue to enforce at least a portion of the mask mandates, despite the court ruling, and hearings on such mandates will continue in lower courts in Bexar and Dallas counties. Both counties have also requested restraining orders against enforcement of Abbot’s order.
“We won't stop working with parents, doctors, schools, business + others to protect you and intend to win that [temporary injunction] hearing," Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said.
