Apparently, there are few consequences for committing crimes in New York City. During a stretch in early June of last year, 118 people were arrested in the Bronx for smashing storefronts and looting the businesses.
Many of the offenders were caught on tape, their faces clearly visible but now the New York Police Department says the vast majority of the cases are being dismissed.
The NYPD says the District Attorney has dismissed 73 cases while 19 of the suspects have been convicted of the lesser count of trespassing which carries no jail time.
Widespread looting took place in N.Y. City following the death of George Floyd in late May of 2020 while in the custody of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin.
