Pedestrians are dying on American streets at alarming rates.
The Governors Highway Safety Association reports that 67-hundred-21 pedestrians were killed in 2020, a nearly five percent increase over 2019. But the rate jumps 21 percent when compared to deaths per vehicle miles traveled, as more people were dying amid fewer cars on the road during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It's the largest increase since data started being kept in 1975.
