U.S. birth rates are at a record low.
A new report from the CDC says birth rates in the U.S. are at their lowest level since 1979.
The number of births fell for the sixth consecutive year in 2020, and fertility rates also fell to record lows.
The numbers are low across the board for every ethnicity and age group.
The CDC says the birth rate has dropped "below replacement levels," meaning more people die in the U.S. every day than are being born.
The current generation is getting further away from having enough children to replace itself.
