North Royalton Police Officer Lexi Bell was back in the courtroom of Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Daniel Gaul for a hearing regarding John Pugnea who savagely attacked the officer in 2019 while Officer Bell responded to the man's home.
Pugnea was sentenced to four to six years in prison but was initially set for judicial release granted earlier this month after serving only 18 months of his sentence for felonious assault and aggravated menacing.
Pugnea, Wednesday, was denied judicial release from Judge Gaul after the judge found out from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Officer Pugnea was not eligible because his crime involved a police officer and serious harm.
Officer Bell told WTAM 1100's Mike Trivisonno Show Tuesday Pugnea savagely attacked her after she responded to a 911 call.
Officer Bell was not notified of her attacker's potential release leading to the hearing Tuesday before Judge Gaul. Pugnea could have received 15 years in prison for the crime.
