The trial of the former Minneapolis police officer accused of killing George Floyd got underway today.
Derek Chauvin is charged with murder for kneeling on Floyd's neck for several minutes during an arrest last May.
Video of the arrest shows Floyd calling for help and saying he couldn't breathe.
Chauvin has pleaded not guilty to second degree unintentional murder, third degree murder and second degree manslaughter charges.
Floyd's death sparked protests and unrest across the country. Chauvin's trial is expected to last several weeks.
