Senator Tom Cotton railed against the stimulus for paying prison inmates the windfall too.
He pointed out that Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will receive a stimulus check in prison under the measure passed by the Senate over the weekend. The bill will provide anyone serving time in a federal prison with the 14-hundred-dollar stimulus checks.
Federal prisoners who are a U.S. citizen or a qualifying resident alien and have a Social Security number will receive a check, regardless of their crimes.
The 27-year-old was convicted of planting pressure cooker bombs along the marathon route back in 2013 in an attack that killed three people and injured around 280 others.
