Former Cleveland Browns head coach Marty Schottenheimer has passed away in North Carolina. Schottenheimer had been in hospice, in Charlotte, in recent weeks as he battled Alzheimer's disease.
Schottenheimer led the Browns to two AFC Championship games after taking over the team following Coach Sam Rutigliano in 1984.
Schottenheimer also led the Kansas City Chiefs to an AFC Championship game during his tenure there from 1989 to 1998.
He also was head coach of San Diego and Washington. Schottenheimer had an record of 200-126-1 during his head coaching days in the National Football League.
Marty Schottenheimer was 77.
