A law in Oregon decriminalizing all drugs is officially in effect today.
Measure 110, a first of its' kind law, reclassifies possession of small amounts of drugs including heroin, and LSD as a civil violation which could come with a $100 fine or the possibility of treatment.
Under the measure, a person could have less than a gram of heroin or 40 units of LSD and only face the civil penalty.
Also under the law, possession of larger amounts of drugs including one to three grams of heroin or two to eight grams of cocaine, the penalty is now a misdemeanor rather than a felony.
