The Civil Service Ministry in France has slapped Paris City Hall with a nearly $110,000 or 90,000 Euros fine for hiring too many women.
Paris City Hall was taken to task for placing 11 women in top positions compared to five men in the same capacities in 2018.
A 2013 law was imposed in France to require a minimum of 40-percent of appointments be of each gender.
France's Civil Service Ministry imposed the fine since the hires two years ago equated to just over thirty percent of the top positions available going to men.
Paris Mayor Ann Hidalgo calls the fine 'absurd' and 'unfair.'
