A local soldier was among five soldiers who lost their lives in a helicopter crash Thursday in Egypt's Sinai peninsula.
Staff Sgt. Kyle Robert McKee, of Painesville, was on a peacekeeping mission with his fellow troops when their U-H 60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed.
The thirty-five year old McKee was part of a peacekeeping force that monitors the four decades old Israeli-Egyption peace agreement.
He was a 2003 graduate of Riverside High School in Painesville. He previously served tours of duty in Afghanistan, Iraq and Korea.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
