Indians Manager Terry Francona Has Three Procedures For Clotting Issues

Cleveland Indians Manager Terry Francona, Wednesday, addressed his health issues which kept him out of the Tribe dugout for the better portion of the shortened 2020 campaign.

The 61 year old skipper told reporters he underwent three surgeries over a four day span during the season to correct a blood clotting issue.

Francona also admitted that he spent time in ICU following the procedures. Francona initially missed time this past season with gastrointestinal issues.

He briefly returned to the dugout in August but left the team again when the blood clotting issues emerged.

Francona also admitted he needs to get a hip repaired but Indians President of Baseball Operations, Chris Antonetti, fully expects Francona to manage the club in 2021.

Tribe legend Sandy Alomar served as the team's acting manager during Francona's absence.
